How long will the session last?
-Plan for 1-2 hours, though this will depend on how your baby is doing during the session. Happy, fed, warm babies are easy to work with, but I’m sure you are fully aware that baby runs the show now!
Where will the photos be taken?
-I like to take photos in the nursery and living room. If desired, we can also take pictures in the master bedroom. The idea is to capture the love and excitement your families shares within the comfort your home. When planning your outfits, consider the colors of the rooms you want pictures taken in. I will also bring a few neutral wraps for your baby to use if needed.
What should we wear?
-Light colores, whites, and pastels look beautiful in natural light and capture the pure and innocent moment of bringing home a new baby. However, please wear something you are comfortable and feel confident in. Mom, flowy sundresses are always a fantastic option! Please have at least 2 outfits planned out for your baby. It is a good idea to have backup outfits ready for everyone in case your baby spits up or any messes happen. We’ve all been there!
My house is a mess, do I need to clean it?
Please do not feel the need to dust or scrub anything for my arrival! Your house does not have to be perfect. I have 2 toddler boys, so messes do not bother me one bit. However, please declutter the rooms you want to use before I arrive. We want to keep the background of your photos as clear as possible. Consider things that may be on your coffee table, night stand, or dresser that could end up in a photo. If you want to shove it in a closet or hide it under a bed until I leave, I won't judge you!
What about the lighting?
-In my opinion, natural lighting looks best and softens the skin so please open the windows and let all that sunlight shine in! I will also be bringing my travel studio light to make any room light up beautifully. During the session, I may ask to turn off lights or lamps that might cast undesirable shadows and color on you.
Who will be in the photos?
-We will get several photos of just your baby, but we also want to include mom, dad, and any siblings to capture this sweet and intimate time with your newborn baby. You will look back at your photos one day and relive these first snuggles, little hands and feet, and all the emotion and love of this special time in your life. I suggest that everyone be photo ready. Pets are welcome to join in as well.
